The developer of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is apologising for its recent server and matchmaking issues by giving each PUBG player 20,000 battle points. This apology has been issued after players experienced a host of problems following the game’s recent patch that was part of an ongoing campaign to specifically fix problems within PUBG.

The team announced this on Twitter, writing “we sincerely apologize for the negative experience caused by our recent server connectivity and matchmaking related issues. As compensation, we will be gifting all PC players… 20,000 BP.”

The patch was part of the game’s on-going ‘Fix PUBG’ campaign, a campaign that’s entirely focused on fixing the issues with the battle royale. The latest update added new anti-cheat tech, rank system improvements, and better UI but also a number of problems.

Issues included network lag and major desync, with players reporting that when joining a match they would often be sent into the wrong server for their location, which meant experiencing high ping due to network latency. Instead of fixing PUBG, players have said that the patch made the game a lot worse, causing more problems than it fixed.

“The improved system is intended to automatically send players to the region that provides the lowest ping, but unfortunately an error related to ping calculation occurs and the player’s location wasn’t being identified correctly,” the PUBG development and community team stated in a post on Reddit.

Along with these battle points, players will also receive the Black Beanie with Headphones item. The PUBG tweet also states that to collect the 20k battle points and virtual beanies, players must log into the game by 17:00 PDT before October 23.
