PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds overtakes League of Legends at Korean PC bangs

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has reached another milestone. The survival game is now the most played game at Korean PC bangs, having recently overtaken League of Legends, and far ahead of Overwatch.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds makes it onto our list of the best PC games.

According to Gametrics (via inven), PUBG accounted for a 24.28% share of time spent at PC bangs last week, overtaking League of Legends at 23.62%. Overwatch accounted for a 13.73% share.

This isn’t the first time League of Legends has been overtaken, but many games that have done so before have seen a dramatic spike in interest before rapidly falling back down the rankings. PUBG is seeing continues growth in Korea and China, however, so it’s likely that it’ll retain its place at the top for a while.

The record for longest time at the top is held by Korean MMO Blade & Soul, which spent 203 weeks with the highest share before League of Legends took over in August 2012. Overwatch would later temporarily overtake the MOBA, but PUBG’s success means that it’s the first time in five years that a Korean game has occupied the top spot.
