PlayStation 4’s top five best-selling games are all on PC

PlayStation 4 may have an advantage over PC in exclusives, but those aren't the platform's best-selling games

The PlayStation 4 is a wonderful little console, but even with a mid-generation hardware refresh it can barely compete with the most modest of gaming PCs. Plenty of primarily PC players keep a PS4 in rotation for access to Sony’s largely excellent first-party games, but it turns out that the console’s best-sellers aren’t the exclusives. No, they’re all games you can play on PC, too.

In celebration of the PS4’s fifth anniversary, Sony has provided a list of the console’s top five best-selling games. They are Grand Theft Auto V, Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, Call of Duty: WW2, FIFA 17, and FIFA 18. Nope, no Uncharted, no Gran Turismo, no Horizon, not even Knack. PS4’s top five are all games you can play on other platforms.

The ‘most popular’ ranking in the infographic isn’t much different, except that Call of Duty: WW2 is substituted (unsurprisingly) for Fortnite. Even the top PlayStation Plus freebies are a set of multi-platform delights – Black Ops 3, Destiny 2, Dead By Daylight, Just Cause 3, and Mafia 3.

Listen, people are free to game wherever they choose, and I’m not here to shame anybody’s platform choices. But PS4 folks: have you considered the joys of mouse input? Ultra-high framerates? Visual customisation and mods? I promise drivers aren’t nearly as complicated as they sound. We can even help you out with our PC gaming glossary.

Don’t worry, we’ll still be envious of your God of Wars and your Spider-Mans. But just imagine GTA5 at a silky 60fps. You know, frame rates can even go higher than that on PC. Let’s talk about the best graphics cards and get you set up with something nice. You’re going to need something to fill your time when E3 comes around this year.
