idk if you've played it recently but it's pretty incredible at vistas and large dioramas, and the in-game cinematics are stylised but good

individual and models not so much though, idk if it's possible to do a full engine upgrade at this point

Belimawr Avatar

for how it is now compared to lauch it's really good for never having a full engine change. the problem is they have fell into the trap of success, every game that has come out with a V2 has seen the new version fall short while also damaging the success of the V1 game.

then you have games that have done full engine shifts, in general the games have lost their "charm" leading to players losing interest and quitting or forcing the game to change to the rules of the new engine meaning the game is just never the same. that is before taking into account an old game like WoW will have people playing across a massive range of hardware so any large requirement increase could lead to a lot of players suddenly unable to play, as it stands the minor updates with expansions already cause enough disruption for a number of players so a large update would likely pull down the player base.

so while it would be nice to see a WoW2 or a total overhaul it is unlikely to happen as it likely would lead to the death of the game as it has with so many other games that have tried to do it.

WoW really was the perfect storm, it came at the perfect time with a good formula mixing the best nits of other games and a franchise with a large following leading to a success it's something that will be hard to replicate and you take away the time people have invested in the game now you will likely have the long serving player base dropping like flies.

so really the incremental updates have done a lot, the new areas are really good so are the new models, but it is the best that is ever going to happen.

That number is misleading, the Unity engine tutorial being released 250 times doesn't count.

How about writing an article about an issue with the PC version of this game and Ubisoft not doing anything about it? Digital isn't working for customers, just says "coming soon" in Uplay. Physical copies aren't even available for shipping yet. Ubisoft emailed me saying there's a manufacturing problem and they don't know when it'll be ready.

Develop an online card game and intentionally leave out means of communicating with other players. Then expect the socially inept introverts you created to congregate at real events with people they have nothing in common with besides a card game?

It blows my mind how completely out of touch Blizzard is with their customers and want they want. It's apparent they have no clue in all their games as the community aspect of all of them is terrible because of blizzard's choices.
Ben Barrett Avatar

They have consistently some of the strongest communities in the world, lol.

Opinions are 100% split on this. Look at the reviews. Look at the Andromeda subreddit. Look at the response when we tweeted this article out. Lol.

I think he means the general consensus is that the game was underwhelming. Many people did like the game, but that fact that the planned DLC was canceled speaks volumes.

Also, this is just me, but the writing wasn't nearly as engaging as its predecessor. Came off as kind of fan fictiony imo.

I'm an idiot for not reading the article and making a comment. I have now done so, and watched the vid. It's concise and well explained.

Steam clock always points to the standard release time. Unless the info is from the studio I wouldn't rely on it.
Ben Barrett Avatar

That's not the case. We've seen the Steam clock point to all sorts of times, most often 11pm UK time.

I don't see many 3,500 word, well-researched, multiple-POV articles on Twitter dot com but I'd love to have your follow list if you do. Seems like they're beating the character limit somehow.

Jokes aside, if you don't like the subject of an article, nothing is making you read it. If their mere presence on the website makes you stop reading, there's not a lot we can do about that. Reception (and every other metric we measure) to this article has been very good, and I expect you will see more of them. Alongside all the news, reviews, previews, celebratory pieces, history, patch notes and anything else we can come up with in the meantime.

you just don't understand, this sites purpose is literally in the title and you're trying to diverge into other things that have absolutely nothing at all to do with it. look, we get it, you want to be real journalists and talk about pressing issues, including politics, but you should ask yourselves is this really the platform for it...? please don't strive to become Kotatu or RPS, you're better than that.

Heroes of the Storm review snippet Why would you pick Heroes of the Storm over League of Legends or Dota 2?
Mainly the speed. Individual games are much shorter and more action-focused - you can play two or three games in an hour, and even short sessions feel more fulfilling than other MOBAs.

StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void review snippet Are the aliens in StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void scary?
Depends how you feel about faceless psychics and gribbly beasts. It never goes into straight-up horror, and Blizzard's style is so over the top that it defies becoming disturbing.

You Must Build A Boat review snippet Have you come up with any clever strategies in You Must Build A Boat?
Beyond matching non-combat tiles outside of combat as much as possible and avoiding wasting big damage combos without anything to hit, no, it's mostly luck with a bit of pattern recognition in there.

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth review snippet How gory is The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth?
Nothing spectacular, and the low-fi graphics mean it's far less in your face than you get from today's various big-budget offerings. It is gross, though, and if you stop and think about what's going on it's basically disgusting.

Grand Theft Auto V review snippet How open is Grand Theft Auto V to explore?
It's a massive city that's basically completely unrestricted, especially with some mods to open up more of the buildings. The tools you have to get around make it even easier, but there isn't a lot to do out there.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive review snippet How does Global Offensive compare to Source or 1.6?
Source was my game and even the tiniest changes in GO put me off initially. It has some additional weapons and a large rebalance pass, plus various changes to the cash system, menus, level layouts etc. It's also patched more regularly than its previous counterpart. It is as much a brand new game in the details as it is broadly the same. However, if you're a Source or 1.6 hardcore player, you likely already know which you prefer.
