Hidden gems of PC gaming: Dark Souls I-IIIHidden gems of PC gaming: Dark Souls I-III
QDP2 Avatar
I thought when you initiated this series with Bioshock, the reception was poor enough to stop a sequel from arriving. Apparently I thought wrong.
The writing is good, and I'd happily read about some true "hidden gems", Point out some indie games that didn't get the full publicity deal, or simply shined then disappeared into the massive steam libraries most of us own nowadays. Talk about series that were successful, but lack sequels. Give us some new information outside of the blinding obvious. The humour of this series was dead before it began. Wiping the dust off the corpse and waving it's arm won't bring it back.
Ben Barrett Avatar

Gosh, humour is subjective, eh?

They better design the next expansion for flying, this running around and then "earning" flying with a 3 month grind is beyond stupid, how about you design worlds with flying in mind.
Ben Barrett Avatar

They did for this one, they just don't want people flying during the opening of the expansion, not least because it breaks story flow quite easily.

The conqueror and berserker change isn't a nerf. It means that when THEIR light attack is blocked, the enemy can no longer perform an un-counterable guardbreak.

Shadowized Avatar

well, technically it is biased, because if Trump didn't win, this article wouldn't exist. however that wasn't the point I was going for at all.

the point I was trying to make was about the fact that more and more articles are downright click-bait and riddled with SEO keyword cancer, speaking of cancer, those year old posts showing that they were posted a few hours ago because somebody added a paragraph to it, all without putting any highlight/indication of said additions.

fair point about the esports / moba gets a patch posts, as somebody who does play some of those games this is the last place I'd consider checking for patchnotes because there aren't even any categories, everything is just thrown together into one pile. which is also one of the reasons I absolutely loathe this type of post, because I have to scroll past it in the hopes of finding something I'd be interested in.

take that as you will, that's just my opinion of it.

Ben Barrett Avatar

To address your first point, most news posts depend on the linear progression of time causing events to happen, yes.

And our patch posts do have sections.

Another 22,865 Korean Overwatch accounts banned by Blizzard for cheatingAnother 22,865 Korean Overwatch accounts banned by Blizzard for cheating
Ben Barrett Avatar

Yeah, that seems to be the general plot. What's weird is map hacks etc. never seemed to run rampant out of PC bangs when StarCraft, League were on top.

Chaz Avatar

I'd hazard a guess that autoaim programs are just significantly easier to implement, or give you a greater advantage. In Blizzard's defence OW is certainly not the only FPS to experience cheating, and maybe it's the popularity of the game that seem to inflate these reports making it seem like a bigger issue than it is.

Hey! Thanks muchly for this, added a few in. Somehow forgot Eldar Jetbikes actually had a name, or that Dire Avengers even existed. Been a decade or so since I did Space Marines vs. Eldar on a friend's carpet...

Have you got a link for the Dreadnought Elite interview and the screenshots of the other Eldar heroes?

League of Legends overtakes Overwatch in South Korea’s internet cafés League of Legends overtakes Overwatch in South Korea’s internet cafés

Their pace of content release is actually very quick, and on-par with League of Legends in gameplay terms. Two new heroes in six months, plus maps, plus game modes, plus more in development, plus a semi-constant PTR with major redesigns and tweaks at all times.

Selarek Avatar

maybe, but it still feels reeeally slow, also, I remember in the past, when LoL was in early stages, they even announced 3 champs in a row! And having a pool of over 110 heroes, it's normal to slow down to a hero every 3 months or even more.. now lets talk about 23.

StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void review snippet Are the aliens in StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void scary?
Depends how you feel about faceless psychics and gribbly beasts. It never goes into straight-up horror, and Blizzard's style is so over the top that it defies becoming disturbing.

No, it subverts itself a lot and switches it up from just plain cute rather quickly.

You Must Build A Boat review snippet Have you come up with any clever strategies in You Must Build A Boat?
Beyond matching non-combat tiles outside of combat as much as possible and avoiding wasting big damage combos without anything to hit, no, it's mostly luck with a bit of pattern recognition in there.

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth review snippet How gory is The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth?
Nothing spectacular, and the low-fi graphics mean it's far less in your face than you get from today's various big-budget offerings. It is gross, though, and if you stop and think about what's going on it's basically disgusting.

Grand Theft Auto V review snippet How open is Grand Theft Auto V to explore?
It's a massive city that's basically completely unrestricted, especially with some mods to open up more of the buildings. The tools you have to get around make it even easier, but there isn't a lot to do out there.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive review snippet How does Global Offensive compare to Source or 1.6?
Source was my game and even the tiniest changes in GO put me off initially. It has some additional weapons and a large rebalance pass, plus various changes to the cash system, menus, level layouts etc. It's also patched more regularly than its previous counterpart. It is as much a brand new game in the details as it is broadly the same. However, if you're a Source or 1.6 hardcore player, you likely already know which you prefer.

As realistic as it's possible to be while being an armoured, immortal horse that gets air-lifted by a balloon regularly.
