Mr. Gabe Newell,

I wasn't able to attend, I'm disabled, I develop, can I have one? Would be great if actual disabled people (like me) could develop on Vive for ourselves instead of others. Might give some incredible insight, no?

I went through the bollocks login system here just to give this game some love.

You guys really should allow Google, Facebook, etc. logins. It may not seem like much , but today even a few extra clicks or seconds is enough to stop people from commenting. Sad as is, it's stopped me many, many, times.

Seriously guys, you need to enable Google, Facebook, etc. log in. 99% of the time I don't comment because of the pita log in crap.

On topic, Braben has masterfully lied through his teeth and milked every shilling he can from this in true greedy corporate style. EA is so proud of him.

I don't recall mentioning other people's money or what they do with it. However, as sated earlier, greedy fucks with their slimy "pre-order" schemes needs to stop. It's just an embarrassing money grab dreamed up by evil people.

I don't think preorders are inherently greedy, but holding content hostage is.

Get rid of "pre-orders" altogether ya greedy fucks. We are so tired of all the slimy money grabbing schemes.Reply

Nothing wrong with preorders. You can choose not to buy and what other people do with their money is none of your business.

One day we will all look back on the "free for all" that is today's gaming industry and wonder why we all let companies rip us off. Devs will sit around and remember the "good old days" when the could make money by releasing broken shit and broken promises.

The free rides of milking the cash cows are almost over.

There's tens of thousands of things, both in and out of nature, they could choose to use to demonstrate the same thing just as effectively.

That may be the case but once something becomes a standard test within a field it is a good idea to stay with it until a good reason not to presents itself. If everyone uses the the same type of item to demo then you can see which approach is better and like I said, hair is something that everyone is familiar with so it doesn't rely on previous exposure.

It just comes down to knowing that the audience will have seen similar things in reality before and as such reality can be a benchmark.

I like it. A lot, But, what's with the GPU industry's fixation on hair?

I suspect that the reason is that it is incredibly difficult to create a realistic representation of it because of how it is composed in reality. Think about it, most things can be made to look rather good using good quality texturing. This doesn't work for hair because in reality hair isn't a single thing. It's thousands of individual entities forming a general structure.

This makes it a really good demo item and it only becomes a better one when you consider that it is something that people can relate to easily as they can compare it to reality.
