It's never a good time to start playing Hearthstone, it never is.

Even with this update, the game is still stupid expensive. Play the competition, they're just better now.

Why didn't Tyranny sell? Paradox on Obsidian's RPG "everyone was hoping would do better"Why didn't Tyranny sell? Paradox on Obsidian's RPG "everyone was hoping would do better"

If Pillars of Eternity 2 sells like Tyranny does, all the equity-crowdfunders will lose money. It Pillars of Eternity 2 sells like Torment does, they'll lose money too.

Pillars 2 needs ~550,000 unit sales at full price to break even. I'm not convinced it's going to sell like the first.

It will easily outsell the first game. The first game moved a million units and everything we've seen from the follow up makes it look like it will be better in every way.

I've played both Tyranny and Pillars and Tyranny just isn't as good. There are plenty of reasons it didn't sell as well but at the end of the day that is the most important one.

Call of Duty won’t be coming to Battle.net - unless it doesCall of Duty won’t be coming to Battle.net - unless it does

Battle.net was never really built to be a marketplace. Currently, all games on their app are displayed down the side of the window, and to my knowledge they are not hide-able (even when you do not own the titles).

To introduce CoD titles to Battle.net would not be beneficial for either company. For Battle.net to sell multiple shooters on their service would reduce sale counts for Destiny 2 when it arrives. CoD would just be loosing profits (I guess 30%?) to Battle.net for using their servers. They already has a large market share, and fans who follow the title before it's platform location (swapping from MS to Sony when they became the dominant platform for pro play). Their main profits come from consoles before PC anyway, so I highly doubt they'd want to invest into another PC marketplace. I'm still shocked they choose to sell on Steam (at 30% loss of profits) when they undoubtedly could have made their own storefront and taken all profits for the titles.

Activision own Battle.net, they will not be losing money by switching from Steam.

It's inevitable that Call of Duty will end up exclusively on Battle.net. If EA can give up on Steam, so can Activision.

However, Nicholson is keen to dispel any concerns regarding pay-to-win entrapments. As he explains, “we've got the ability for players to earn cards throughout the game."

Stop reprinting these bland nothing PR statements. Every digital card game allows you to earn cards in game. The extent that it's pay to win depends on the necessity for the rarest cards, and the drop rates in card packs.

It will be interesting to see how these mechanics work in an rts. Most card games are about unit effects, but a lot of the typical ones (charge/taunt etc) would make no sense in an rts.

This is not an Overwatch clone, it is in fact mostly inspired by Hi-Rez's highly original Paladins.

Pixel densities on both desktops and laptops are pathetic. Yet again, we'll have to wait for Apple to lead the way and shame the rest of the market to something reasonable.Reply
Belimawr Avatar

Apple isn't great for pixel density, their phones are fairly low compared to the 1440 panels in a lot of phones, but the pixel density to get it into the 200+ range on a 24 inch screen you would need a resolution of about 6300 by 3600, so yeah best of luck finding a PC that can even push that, go to a bigger screen and that number only gets higher.

if you want higher pixel density your best hope is the big firms working heavily on OLED such as Samsung. because just looking at phones Apple is about 400 PPI while the modern Samsung flagship phones are 577PPI
