Nothing happened to free speech. He spoke freely without being censored by anyone; his employer didn't like what he said so they fired him.


Don't confuse free speech with consequence - free speech, the former still exists the latter hardly ever has.

yeah, but some of use think he is spot on and just being honest. Why have consequence over it, what about those who disagree with the fans that were outraged, maybe we want someone fired now who shares the same ideologies with the fans. Either way , this game lost a lot of players that disagree with the firing, have fun being just another steam game that people play for a day and look past.

It's behaviour not character selection that annoys me. Begging for a particular character in chat, standing outside of the objective sniping as the last couple of percent tick off, treating objective games like they're deathmatch. This is especially galling now deathmatch is an option you can choose to play.

I wonder if we're at the point where $60 does not cover a "full priced game", and these micro-transactions are quietly subsidizing / preventing an otherwise inevitable price increase.

Average game sales have probably hit their peak, development costs only continue to grow, while the store price-tag has remained stagnant for decades (probably fallen if anything - can't remember the last time I actually paid $60).

Games have mainly continued to be profitable, despite devs sometimes spending thousands on details we don't need for good gameplay.


What loot boxes and microtransactions have done is triple the profits.

If someone wants to try and sell me a chance of some cosmetic-only items, fair enough, I only find satisfaction from attaining them through playing alone.

If someone carves off gameplay aspects that grant advantages in multiplayer or give different difficulty levels they should be made to sleep in a ditch.

Full priced games shouldn't charge for anything but substantial expansions released a fair period after the game, ie not locked away in the release game.Reply
