Why the Blizz hate? Did a gang of Kobolds gank you?
I have played EQ, EQ2, AION, Lineage, ESO, WoW, and many other MMORPGs as well as a few MOBAs and CTG games.
Aesthetics matter but only in a minor degree. Over all Game Immersion trumps Aesthetics. However...
The most vital and paramount characteristic in a successful MMO game (Blizzard is Very Successful) is Game Balance & Programming that is effective; character balance, skills that make sense & compliment other player skills, dungeons and raids that work with a cohesive group of players that have an epic feel to them.
I would take a 12 year old game with lower end graphics that works beautifully than a pretty game like AION with busted broken classes, dungeons, and skills & programming.
This applies to CTG as well.
Besides WoW, OverWatch, HearthStone etc have exceptional game immersion - ESPECIALLY within WoW - Where I can escape and find myself lost in some enchanted wood riding my trusty mount.
wow... I had no idea the reason I loved Raid Tanking with a solid, cohesive, talented and fun guild until now. It' feels sooooo good to be free from all that mind control.
I beta'd this game and found it flimsy, clunky, drab and just plain boring with no lore - absolutely nothing "Sand box" about it - nothing WoW hasn't got or EQ had. The character models are okay but are inferior to AION as well as the over all real estate. The female Elf is hideous - she appears like a guy. I tried a good hour to make her look like a feminine goddess of the forest. The 2 Character limit for free players make Que times unbearable. (I refuse to pay into a Korean developed game until I am certain about it) Que times Pft.... I have had over 10 hour wait times. I can see players losing interest in this game fast.
