Star Citizen right not to ape “basic, bare minimum” approach of Elite: Dangerous, claims Chris RobertsStar Citizen right not to ape “basic, bare minimum” approach of Elite: Dangerous, claims Chris Roberts

Really twisting words here in this "article". Actual quote:

“It's just an approach,” Roberts said when I put this to him. In his opinion, while Frontier’s approach was “a totally viable way to go about it”, it launched with the “basic, bare minimum” of features (“you're just trading and earning some money and upgrading your ship”), the game was “the same game you had 20 years ago”, and Frontier is adding new things in and solving the problems of each new feature “one thing at a time.” CIG’s approach, he says, “is a whole other scale of difficulty”.

Also nothing about Star Citizen being a "threat".

VR rift emerges as Project Cars players can't compete across Oculus and SteamVR rift emerges as Project Cars players can't compete across Oculus and Steam

I'm not sure why this is new news, it's the way it's only been. You can't use steam for matchmaking and have a game sold on GOG connect to the server list. Same way you cannot use Workshop and have non steam copies install the mods from there.

If you want cross store support you have to do things like we were doing before steam took over. Host or rent your own matchmaking servers and mod download sites.

They CAN support both, just don't want to.

This reminds me of playing Team Fortress 2 waaaay back in the day and engineers found a way to sink into the ground and build turrets underground making them impossible to destroy. Good times(?).

Using SEUS was when I finally got into minecraft. It's so great to see your creations in that light. Although at the time I remember having to make a few modifications to it as some objects had rendering issues and the sunsets would flicker.

To hate him is to not know anything about him. Sure the FNaF games may not be high brow, and could be considered rushed, but Scott Cawthorn has always been one of the weirdest but most honest and genuine developers in the industry right now.

The sad truth is you are going to have to downgrade the SDK from .8 to different ones to play a lot of the games out there now. If you have any questions on a specific game, you should get quick help here: https://www.reddit.com/r/oculus/.

Oculus Rift founder Palmer Luckey to make major announcement at The Game Awards on ThursdayOculus Rift founder Palmer Luckey to make major announcement at The Game Awards on Thursday

It's really hard to say which device will provide the best experience at this stage. Vive dev kit is closer to oculus CV1 and many are comparing it to DK2. Oculus touch will include a second camera and touch controllers for a "walking space" experience, however they are selling the initual VR with just the headset. Cheaper than Vive with controllers sold separately and only one tracking device I suppose.

By the time everything is out, both will have identical screens with identical resolution and refresh. Lenses are touted to be better in the oculus consumer but we don't even know what Vive consumer will look like so can't guess on that. Both will have some sort of hand controller with the ability to upgrade sensors and increase your walking range.

Honestly it sounds like you've already made your mind up and are going with Oculus. I am only basing my experience on using the first two gens of the Rift and what I've read about the Vive compared to the consumer Rift and how everyone that has tried the latest iterations of both seems to be favoring the Vive.

We've made a few changes to PCGamesN.com. Did you notice? We've made a few changes to PCGamesN.com. Did you notice?
Mctittles Avatar
I don't mind any of the changes so far. A couple of things I'd like to mention while you are moving forward.

1. Please, please, please don't get sucked into the modern design trend of loosing chronological order to your stories. You know the sites that have top and featured and other categories all mixed together in a confusing grid. What a pain to browse! Just keep it the way it is and will be easier.

2. Pagination? I dunno who's bright idea it was to completely remove pagination from the internet, but I want it back!
Think of this situation. You know you read an article you want to share but it was last month. With pagination you can get an idea of how far back each page goes and guess on maybe it was around page 6. From page 6 you go to 7 or 5 and within a short amount of time you've found it.
With endless scroll you hold down scrolling; wait forever; hope your browser doesn't crash before you find it; give up because it's taking too long to load.Reply
Tim Edwards Avatar

Hey,

We're never going to lose chron order for publishing. I want people to feel that they're seeing the latest stuff on the site, and when they come back, they can see more new things.

On the infinite scroll: everything our analytics have told us in the past is that the infinite scroll means more people click on many more things, which is pretty much our goal. I see the point though.

This War of Mine asks you to make a difficult choice in this interactive trailerThis War of Mine asks you to make a difficult choice in this interactive trailer
Mctittles Avatar

Actually the trailer is misrepresentation of how the game plays out. When playing you can attack and also bring weapons with you. There is a scene very similar to this in the game and I successfully killed the guard.

If you are unarmed or inexperienced in combat that is when the decision on if you should help or not becomes difficult. You may loose the battle but it does not play out for you, you can move and fight and choose alternate routes for your character.

They should have shown an instance of that occurring but the route chosen wasn't. I bet there are other situation you will have to face in the game where you're left in terror. I don't want to purchase media that sells me terror.

Kerbal Space Program review snippet How open is Kerbal Space Program to explore?
There is a solar system, but the textures aren't really detailed so while flying there is fun, looking around is pretty boring.
