I was utterly disappointed when Bethesda cancelled Prey 2 and my disappointment only increase after the announcing this game. I don't need of any game about fighting an ridiculous "alien" inkpocalypse.
What they did here will cause them to lose the said profit.

No one is advocating for free products or for producers to operate at a loss (at least not for this article).
People are upset by what appears as a greedy move ahead of a major sale event being presented as a standard business practice. Had they waited until right after the sale I'm sure no one would have flinched. Considering they're essentially reversing their position for the sale it seems they've realized their customers are on the savvy side of the market.
Tell me about it. I went as far as installing Windows 10 on my Mac just to play Horizons (which isn't available on the macOS, only the base game is). Looking at that Windows logo on my machine just feels wrong in every conceivable way…
