Exactly. Ubisoft made a game that had no story or R6 feel besides the name. This game should just be called "Siege" at this rate. They really need to make a singleplayer.
Shame they only need to shift units. I'd still pay the full price if I get to play Alien on Linux - maybe even tip the guys if they do it properly.
Shadow Warrior and Outlast on Linux. :)
Thanks for the post. It was fun to read.
I am just about to replay original F.E.A.R. with Sikk shaders. I can't name any game that would have done the same or better in terms of AI, gameplay, dynamic lighting, water and gosh those dynamic animations - I didn't even remember those.
I read F.E.A.R. AI wasn't really that clever to flank the player. It was just made to move closer to the player using paths where it can take cover or to just do things like crawl under a fence for example. That gave the illusion of clever AI to the player and they succeeded in that remarkably well.
You're correct about the AI in FEAR. In real terms, what it was programmed to do at a fundamental level was simply "relocate" around you. Realistically it's not trying to be smart about what it does. But this simple rule, combined with the intelligent map design, allowed the AI to perform actions that most FPS's still struggle to emulate even today.
Lol. I haven't upvoted or downvoted any comments on this article. I've been reading lot of news on this site for a long time, but I can hardly be bothered to comment anything. Thanks anyway!
Maybe an upvote will calm your mind. Take that! ;)
Hah, well in that case I'll remove my downvote.
Last Light stealth is broken. It's just too easy. They will just say "huh?" even when they should clearly see the player. In Metro 2033 it is a lot better.
I should've just run 'n' gun those parts, it would not have been so boring then. I hope they have fixed that and not put it on Metro 2033 redux with the "improved AI" and "stealth kills".
I think I'm gonna just grap the best of the two: Metro 2033.
I'm not sure why you thought I needed a downvote over my comment (I'll assume it was you), because none of what you said argues with my post. The update is just in terms of graphics, and making it "next-gen". The allure was not to fix the AI, and I really doubt they have (at least it wasn't mentioned anywhere), so what you think about the game in terms of difficulty is fairly irrelevant.
But hey, have a downvote back, and welcome to the site, I guess.
Vegas 2!? Oh c'mon. Replace it with Raven Shield at once!
