The VR mods for Minecraft are much nicer. Like seriously soooo much better, with room-scale support.

Unfortunately by Mojang's request they are shutting down the Minecrift mod.

Fortunately Vivecraft (a fork of Minecrift) still exists.

Nostalrius say WoW execs 'want legacy servers' despite vanilla code difficultyNostalrius say WoW execs 'want legacy servers' despite vanilla code difficulty

There's a frustration here that Blizzard only gets one half of the equation: The game code and game states of the early vanilla era of WoW were not the only element: The server communities that existed then were a large part of the magic. Those sort of communities get recreated along with private servers, but they wouldn't exist within Blizzard's current social framework (Battle.Net et all, now with Facebook-- yeah).

They should stop worrying about how to fit the old vanilla code into their current systems and just license and sell the ability for the player-community to legally operate private servers. Let the fans take charge of "legacy" servers and regrow WoW's audience that way.Reply

Damn fine idea sir......but Ill be utterly shocked if it happened. To me, the fact that they shut the server down tells me that they were interested, and likely already planning, a Vanilla server. But at least they are trying to have reasonable discussions with their fan base as to how it will be implemented. They certainly didn't have to do that.....

Hahah! Well I guess tell that to Valve. There was "no market" for Steam when it launched too. Now all these other companies complain about not having a foothold in that space. This is how companies get left behind, waiting for the market to come instead of creating it.

Love, love, love my Vive and everyone else who I've had in my living room to try it has been pretty amazed too. Worth every penny.Reply

He's right about the price, but it's a price he seems to be pulling from thin air. Or is he including a VR-ready PC, along with the headset, in that definition of "device"?

That's like including the price of a TV in the argument for/against a console. Sure, you need one. But you probably already have the former if you're thinking of buying the latter.

I would love to see WoW "legacy" servers sold, so community-led servers could be operated by users. The popularity of the private servers hasn't just been a nostalgia thing. Passionate fans run servers with more tight-knit and community-minded players.

It would be amazing if older versions of WoW could be sold like Minecraft is on the PC so you can just set up a server with friends. I can't imagine Blizzard doing that though. More likely they will just enable older versions on official servers to try to repopulate their diminishing subscription numbers.

This video confuses Episode 3 with Half-Life 3. There's no mystery as to what happened with Episode 3, Valve decided against continuing with episodic content. The amount of time + energy they put into those episodes was as much as a full game, but much less content than one.

As all of the developers and significantly the designers have moved on.

It won't be the same project.

Given the subscription prices of premium and pro accounts were quite a bit higher than the new purchase price, I somehow doubt their dedicated fanbase will be all that upset at paying $10 upfront.

I know everyone likes a good bit of drama, but I don't see it on this one.
