Look, perhaps I'm overtly cynical (actually that's likely), but you're _also_ well aware of the impression a headline conveys, since it's most often taken in isolation as well.

Who knows, maybe I've just seen too many clickbait articles that are (amongst other things) angling for how evil fans are to poor devs over the past couple of years.

"You can't say Blizzard don't listen to fan feedback."

Indeed. And that doesn't constitute "bullying".

That headline is blatant. And you know it. Come on dude, you're better than this.Reply

Whilst Howling Banshees used to be my main preference (especially when combined with teleport or holofield), give me Warp Spiders and I'll be a happy camper.

Is there any explanation for why this costs whereas on Steam it's free? I mean did Valve just have the right forethought and pre-planning in designing their system, or is it just the case that Blizzard are making more bank?

I'm usually hesitant to say things like that, but $10 for a name change seems kind of ridiculous. That's about the cost of most DLC's, and I SERIOUSLY doubt it involves the same amount of work as even the most basic cosmetic addons (or if it does, it really shouldn't for that kind of database change).

I mean there's a system in my Steam friends list where I can even see what previous names I've seen my friends go under. Everyone has their own unique account ID, but as far as I'm aware (haven't done it more than a few times myself) they can call themselves whatever they want, whenever.

Ordinarily I would take the devs at their word, but I'm not sure the explanation of 'min spec' sits right with me. I mean whatever minimum spec they've got in mind for PC is probably going to handily outclass an XBone for performance regardless.

That latter answer about data-mining though, I can totally buy.

Personally? No, my issue's different. I would ask for something you should really take into consideration:

Doom has a legacy for modding, to this very day. It is no exaggeration to say that in many ways it was the grandfather of the modern modding scene. Not just WAD's, but conversions and modifications of every variety, and it is still being modded to this day. And it's probably still going to be modded for years to come.

Now then: Why exactly do you think it is that NuDoom has SnapMap instead of actual modding support? Sure they touted it much, but frankly, it's no comparison, not even close, and the devs know it. The reason they couldn't is simply because Denuvo by its very nature prevents modding.

Between things like Denuvo and UWP I'm seeing a trend in further locking down games at the .exe (or equivalent) level, whilst anyone pointing this out somehow gets lambasted as a Luddite for not embracing the "NEW!" "EXCITING!" technologies. Which are in truth just locking down PC gaming more and making it more controlled and console-like.

I mean someone made a point earlier about comparing Doom to Fallout. I agree it's not an apt comparison as they're in different genres. But I think the relevant part is that if Bethesda are happily (and apparently, happily lauded for) locking down modding on what is the historical symbol of game modding, why exactly are we expecting they _aren't_ going with this lauded approach going forward on their next title?

All whilst implementing a new game equivalent of Snapmap and advertising how awesome they are for doing it.

Modding? Oh it's still there (didn't you see the snapmap?), and really mods weren't ever THAT big a deal for the buyers, they'll buy it anyway right?

Don't know if you agree of disagree, but there it is.

Is there something seriously messed up about the 'Megalian' organisation such that nobody should be tied to it?

Because if not, that seems like a pretty nutty reaction.Reply

The big guess is that _if_ there's a fourth race reveal, it's likely to be Necrons. There's a fair amount hinting at that, what with the last DoW2 DLC (Necron) coming out of the blue, the text on the original trailer, and hints in the Eldar campaign of Retribution.Reply

"Here’s what I’ll say. Halo 5 is not on PC in order for you to go buy an Xbox One - that’s not why we’re doing it."

Query for the interviewer: Did his pants spontaneously combust at that point or was it more of a slow 'is something burning?' thing happening there?

EDIT: Would've liked some questions regarding UWP, and modding in particular, since those are probably the two biggest issues when it comes to the Windows store.Reply

That shit about Halo 5 is not on PC etc is just plain bullshit from Microsoft as always...

Not that it's that big of a loss, Halo 5 is definitely the worst of the series so far, haven't touched it in months, and still not done with the campaign (which was always the only thing I liked about the Halo-series...especially in Coop).
