While we all want to see it sooner rather than later, I don't think anyone could fault them for releasing it in 2020.

And the wait times to play are ridiculous 4h+ (100K people waiting in queue).
The Great Gratzby Avatar

I'm guessing the queues will die down as more and more people realize they've seen everything the game has to offer in the first few minutes.

Idiotic, not to mention ironic.

It's a flaw you can see in a lot of bureaucratic and security procedures. The system insulates itself from everything that is not the system. It has no context or point of reference. The machine does its nominal job, but its human components become incapable of perceiving nuance or making informed judgements, just mindlessly checking boxes off in the government-issued three-ring binder.

It's simple capitalism: the same ethic which protects freedom of speech also protects a company's right to drop you like a hot screw when your public activities threaten to cut into their public relations. Just ask Alison Rapp.

Sir Adrian Avatar

Except that it does not. A company is not legally allowed to fire you over your private opinions unless you openly claim that your statements are the company's statements. Free speech.

A company is allowed to fire you if it can prove that your actions at work or at home and the statements you make in the company's name cause it material loss.

If this guy decides to sue two things will happen. He will be rehired and then quit in exchange for a large sum of money, which the court will force the company to pay. The company will be forced to close as it will not be able to afford to pay him.

Alison was fired because she signed an exclusive contract (not allowed to hold a second job) while holding down a second job. I think Nintendo acted ridiculously in her case but a contract is a contract.

Why do we always play as good guys? The psychology behind moral choices in gamesWhy do we always play as good guys? The psychology behind moral choices in games
The Great Gratzby Avatar
My actions in a game depend almost entirely on the believability of the moral landscape being portrayed. Nine times out of ten, this is some mawkish, overscripted candyfloss that thinks it's clever, so I have no qualms about shooting innocent bystanders in the face or selling pleading synths to the local Radio Shack. In fact, I'm *more likely* to do these things, out of mirth or some passive revenge against the writers. In those rarely immersive gems such as the Witcher series, I'll consider the world and the people around me more carefully, and be better rewarded for the consideration.Reply

Which says that you're metaphorically willing to hurt people to make a point about something you don't like. On a more realistic scale, it implies that you'd hurt feelings and damage people emotionally just to get your dom on. I can't share that in common with you, to me it's just a fascinating facet of depravity I can only observe.

Darkest Dungeon review snippet WHAT WAXEN, BELLOWING, SPONGE-LIKE ABOMINATION DOES Darkest Dungeon CONJURE?
My god, Carter, it was everywhere -- and nowhere! A gibbering, squamous nightmare from beyond those most feverish nightmares of frost-rimed Leng and the spiraling pit of Abshu-Agar, that rings with the maddening, piping voices of The Ones Who Came Before -- No! I cannot describe it further! I beg you, Carter, burn my notes, delete my XBOX profile, dispose of that unspeakable, malevolent tome, and never again install.... THE DARKEST DUNGEON.

It's just kind of deserted. Not the end of the world so much as after closing time on a Sunday when there's a game on in a completely different part of town.

I was sure this was going to be trash, but the beta more than pleasantly surprised me. A little disappointing that it really was just an unabashed Left 4 Dead xerox, and I don't mean "inspired by," I mean like "whoah ho ho, they're not even pretending here", but still really cool and fun, strong impact, nice visuals, good VA. Left 5 Rats might actually be that rarest of today's endangered beasts: a Warhammer game worth playing.

Yea I know absolutely nothing about the Warhammer universe and I bought this mainly as a distraction until Fallout 4 comes out, but this game is just plain fun...it helps that I have 500+ hours between L4D 1 and 2, and this absolutely clones the L4D gameplay in the best way possible.
