Just line up a bunch of outhouses with a sign that said "Free shit!", but of course they step in to do their business, and are instead greeted with a toll toilet. A toll-it. Not only does this frustrate the enemy, lowering morale, but it ruins their economy too, making for easy victory.
How many times now has Ubisoft stated that they want to do better for the PC platform and PC gamers? Yet they still release games soft-locked at 30FPS. It's really clear that the PC platform is not given much consideration during development, so these statements are just reminders that Ubisoft is only trying to appear as supportive of PC to get good press.
Not only that, but it won't support 1440p? They said it'll be 1080p at 30fps and support 5760x1080p at 30fps. What about 2560x1440p on a single screen?
I actually like Ubisoft's games and I've been looking for a car game I can upgrade cars, buy cars, earn money and do it with a friend. But from what I've heard and seen so far, I'm not interested in this at all.
Having idiots lagging and ramming my car when I want to drive around with a friend is not something I'd enjoy. Perhaps you can remove all other players but still see those in your crew?
Really enjoyed this article; thank you for sharing.
So, is Mantle proprietary AMD tech that won't be open to nVidia users? What is AMD's angle? Are they really trying to benefit the industry, or just trying to pigeonhole people into buying AMD cards? I don't know that segmenting the PC gaming community, further than it already is, is best for the industry. (I'm not being crass; I'm genuinely wondering how open and compatible this tech will be for third-parties.)
While I am not sure if there has been any new revelations on this front, when Mantle was announced it was reported that it was open. Nvidia and Intel can support the API if they choose to. The API itself is still an abstraction, there is no technical reason Nvidia can't support it, it just depends on AMD allowing them to and rumor is they are allowing it. Honestly if Mantle truly does provide the performance increase AMD claims, Nvidia wont have much choice. They will have to support it to remain competitive.
I've been waiting for an excuse to try GRID 2; hope this is it! :D
