Infinite Warfare and WW2 both made fewer sales than any of the past ten CODs and this one, BO4, is set to do just as poorly. It's possible that the planned and started AW2 would have sold better than the forced WW2 effort (perhaps wanting to get ahead of BF5). People often confuse (especially in marketing) first day sales with simply first day shipments. What's the problem with Call of Duty? The problem may be a lack of management skills needed for the longer development time (three instead of just two years). They bite off too much, it fails, and then they have to throw a hail marry - resulting in no campaign, small Overwatch like maps and one large Fortnite like map. Activision claims they never planned a campaign. But, there was no Fortnite two years ago, so that doesn't sound likely. And then, there's the reports of first tests that bombed and how Activision had to suddenly start over. The biggest complaint with Activision (just as with EA) is that they don't listen. Activision (and EA) seems to have developed a hearing problem a few years ago (everyone agrees the ten older CODs were better). Eg: WW2's regen was slow to encourage a shoot and pause style (contrary to the normal run and gun that every "true" COD fan thirst for). People rioted until they finally improved it. However, then they go to a slooow stim in BO4 that they admit was intentionally designed to encourage a shoot and pause play style. Are they stupid? So, you must use the stim upgrade - meaning the upgrades are very unbalanced. That's what you get with little planning.

I'm from Philly. But, I found I prefer living in the desert. Tucson has grown three times since. Mostly with people who don't actually love Tucson. You can tell the posers when they say things like their favorite place is the beach. They routinely kill off the native animals (you can't have coyotes in town that might eat your pets), build homes that don't belong, and plant non-native vegetation. I don't care how much money you bring, if YOU don't like Tucson or COD, YOU can leave. So, every COD player knows the Fortnite posers who surely only played a stolen copy complaining about how everyone should switch to Fortnite - a cartoonish game for the Minecraft generation whose fragile snowflake egos can't handle losing because they lack any and all gaming skills. That's the reason for BO4 specialists who can do something beside shoot to get points and why they don't show kill counts (it's potentially too embarrassing). The best music in history (dynamic range, timber, and lyric complexity) is from the 1960s and 1970s. It still the most popular music on the radio. The reason is that the Baby Boomers are alone in being willing to pay for IP. It doesn't make sense to ignore your older fanbase and focus on those who won't buy it. This is not good.

Activision seems determined to compete with EA for boycotters. That's not a game you want to win.
