Red Dead Redemption 2 4K trailer shows off the new frontier

The PC version will launch in November

PC players rejoiced when it was announced recently that they would finally be getting Red Dead Redemption 2 in November. To give a taste of just how good the open-world western will look, Rockstar has released a new 4K trailer for the PC version.

The footage provides just under a minute’s worth of various landscapes, vistas and environment one can expect when trawling the old country. Horses can be seen galloping on the plains, a snow-storm ravages an isolated cabin, and steam trains chug as some, including the voice-over, lament society’s evolution.

The montage is undeniably gorgeous, bringing yet more detail to what was already a beautiful looking game.  Increased draw distances, improved shadows and lighting, new grass and fur textures are a few of the name-checked improvements for the PC version, and they’ll be complemented by new content, such as missions, guns, and horses, for the single-player story. Rockstar is clearly taking advantage of the more robust hardware the PC platform provides to put out a version that makes up for the year-long wait.

The trailer comes a little under a month from the Red Dead Redemption 2 release date. Steam users will have to wait another month, whereas Rockstar is offering some added bonuses to those that use its launcher. Red Dead Online, the multiplayer version that launched in May on consoles, will be available for play day one.

In addition to coming out on Windows, the game will also be part of the launch line-up for Google Stadia, which is set to begin streaming in November.

You can giddy up and ride high with Arthur Morgan when Red Dead Redemption 2 launches November 5.
