Republique, the Kickstarted stealth game from Metal Gear Solid 4 producer Ryan Payton, might feel a tad less essential now that hundreds of hours of Kojima’s best work is sitting on Steam. But it’s still a neat idea: the story of a surveillance state in which you turn an Overseer’s weapons against them – hacking into CCTV and directing protagonist Hope to the nearest cover, and eventually, freedom.
We’re three episodes in, and by and large players seem to have fallen head over heels for Camouflaj’s tale of totalitarianism. The fourth part will sneak into shot this week.
Prefer your environments with plenty of options? Play a good PC sandbox game.
It’s entitled ‘God’s Acre’, and sticks with Hope as she hurries through the environments you’re manipulating.
So very happy that we’re finally releasing République EP4 next week. Thank you all for your patience! pic.twitter.com/B5QsDWMgBP

“The Republique saga takes a turn that will surprise fans and fascinate new players,” says Payton. “Since partnering with [new publishers] GungHo Online Entertainment, we’ve been able to move development forward faster and we’re on track to bring the story to a thrilling conclusion.”
If you’re confident about how it’ll turn out, you can buy the whole Orwellian saga on Steam for £18.99/ $24. Think you might?
