To those of us not versed in the lore of Resident Evil, Barry Burton sounds like a TV entertainer under investigation by Operation Yewtree. But for players with first-hand memories of a ‘90s mansion with a snarling front door, he is the original BSAA investigator – now returned after the Racoon City incident to star in Revelations 2.
Or star across Revelations 2. The new Resident Evil will be episodic, released in weekly increments from the middle of February.
The first episode of Resident Evil: Revelations 2 will come to Steam on February 18 – with the subsequent three parts to follow on February 25, March 4 and March 11.
In the tradition of Telltale, the weekly episodes will be purchasable alone for £4.99 / $5.99, or together as a £19.99 / $24.99 season pass.
The season pass comes with two extra spin-off episodes focused on the stories of two new characters, Natalia Korda and Moira Burton – and the amusingly codenamed HUNK as a raid mode character. You can also get all of that in the retail version of the game released on March 13 in Europe.
Papa Burton appears as the game’s second lead character, behind returning heroine Claire Redfield. He’s leading the search for missing daughter Moira on a horror staple – the prison island.
That’s where he’ll also find Korda – a little girl with the handy ability to supernaturally locate nearby enemies and items. For her, nothing’s ever revelatory.
Are any of you lot Resident Evil regulars who simply made do with The Evil Within?
