Now that’s a reveal: Capcom are making a Resident Evil: Revelations 2

It’s testament to the state Resident Evil was in last year that a 3DS game ported as an afterthought to PC was heralded with over a million sales. But Revelations was a welcome throwback: an unapologetic survival horror game that asked its players to hug tight corners and wrestle with restrictive control schemes.

The same team have built a sequel. Resident Evil: Revelations 2 will drop the cast and setting of its predecessor, but presumably keep the ‘90s ethos.

Revelations 2 was revealed at Sony’s Tokyo Game Show conference, where the game is named Biohazard and due out in early 2015.

Series stars Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine will be absent for the sequel; Capcom have assembled a new set of survivors.

Expect a zombie pandemic this time: the game’s teaser shows healthy humans wearing green wristbands, and their infected counterparts marked with red wristbands. Not that they struggle to stand out – most of them are rotting.

It looks like the game’s in development for new consoles – which means we shouldn’t have to wait a year this time for the infection to spread to PC. Do you think you’ll hug Revelations 2’s corners?

Cheers, Eurogamer.
