Did you put Rise of the Tomb Raider on your Christmas list? Have you been good boys and girls? Well, Square Enix doesn’t care about any of that stuff, release schedules are really more about development time, market saturation and quarterly revenue. In any event, there’s mounting evidence that Lara Croft’s latest outing, the erstwhile Xbox-exclusive Rise of the Tomb Raider, will be coming to PC in January.
Will Rise of the Tomb Raider become one of our best PC games? Place your bets.
The game’s Steam page appears to give the game away, listing it for a broad January release. Square Enix have yet to confirm or deny that release window, as it’s holiday season and give them a break, would you?
Amazon have previously listed the game with a 29th January release date, so the two listings are in line with each other. if it is true, you really don’t have long to clear that enormous stack of games you bought in the Steam Winter sale before the next epic adventure arrives.
Speaking of the Winter sale, a whole swathe of Tomb Raider titles are currently selling with an 85% discount, including Crystal Dynamics’ critically lauded Lara reboot, Tomb Raider. You can find them on Rise of the Tomb Raider’s Steam page, linked above. The page really doesn’t give much else away, save for a few choice quotes from reviewers who really liked the Xbox version.
If you didn’t play the last Tomb Raider – well, you’ll catch up quickly. It’s Uncharted on PC, give or take a few worryingly cheerful quips after someone dies. The platforming and puzzling walks the line between old school Lara and the Assassin’s Creeds et al of the modern world.
We’ll be keeping our ears to the ground for confirmation of a release date on PC.
Thanks, PC Gamer.
