Sherlock Holmes: The Devil’s Daughter uncovers May 27 release date

Sherlock Holmes The Devil's Daughter

Since its announcement last October, details on Frogwares’ Sherlock Holmes: The Devil’s Daughter have been harder to find than answers within any one of the consulting detective’s toughest cases. Today, a release date has been announced: May 27, 2016.

Sherlock Holmes: The Devil’s Daughter marks the eighth game in the series and plans to combine “investigation, action and exploration for an extraordinary experience”. While I found the last entry – Crimes and Punishments – to be a bit on the awkward side (not least the game’s grating voice acting), Fraser seemed to really enjoy it.

Back in October, developers Frogwares teased that the latest Baker Street outing would challenge Holmes’ inquisitive nature and unwavering logic by way of heartfelt stories and themes of revenge. We’ve not heard much since, but Frogwares and publisher Bigben Interactive had this to say earlier today:

“Playing as the great detective, players will have to track down evil in the darkest corners of Victorian London, freely exploring several neighbourhoods in the city in search of clues and suspects while they untangle a web of intrigue leading to a final stunning revelation.

“Sherlock Holmes: The Devil’s Daughter offers unique game mechanics and an epic storyline for an interactive and immersive experience unlike any players have ever had before. For the first time, Sherlock Holmes’ powers of analysis and composure will be shaken by emotion as he is caught between family, dark forces and powerful thirsts for vengeance.”

Sherlock Holmes: The Devil’s Daughter is due for release on May 27, 2016.
