Shacknews is reporting that Derrickson will both write and direct, with the film’s plot following Human Revolution’s “quite closely.” So this thing really, really is happening now?
Derrickson has directed such films as Sinister, The Exorcism of Emily Rose and the 2008 remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still. While the latter had a lukewarm reception from critics, it was nevertheless a box office smash.
Is Derrickson the kind of director who can do justice to the complex and often morally ambiguous world of Deus Ex? I won’t be holding my breath, but I will be crossing my fingers.
