SoulCalibur 6 scores – our round-up of all the critics

SoulCalibur VI is out today, so it's time to see what the critics thought of the latest addition to the fighting game series

"Soulcalibur VI Geralt"

SoulCalibur VI releases at the end of this week, which means it’s time to check out what the critics thought. The latest installation in the weapon-based fighting game – which this time our feature The Witcher’s Geralt of Rivia as a playable character – is out on October 19. But how does it hold up compared to the rest of the series?

The Soul Calibur VI review scores could prove very important, as the developers have already said that the future of the series might be in doubt if the game underperforms. Speaking earlier this year, the game’s producer, Motohiro Okubo said that SoulCalibur “was actually facing a crisis of maybe disappearing.”

It looks, however, as though the series is probably safe, as the game’s review scores are pretty promising. It’s currently sitting at an 86 on OpenCritic, while the game’s PS4 release is currently scored at an 85 on Metacritic. Those are some pretty impressive numbers, especially when you consider that there are a couple of 95s thrown in there for good measure.

Without further ado, take a look at the SoulCalibur VI review scores. Unless otherwise stated, all scores are on PC:

God is a Geek (PS4): 85/100
DualShockers (PS4): 95/100
Gamespot: 8/10
Destructoid (PS4): 85/100
IGN Italy (PS4): 87/100
Xbox Achievements (XB1): 85/100

Given there are some impressive scores here, hopefully the future of the series is in less doubt than it was before. That said, review scores don’t always equate to sales, so we’ll have to wait until Friday to judge the game’s success.
