Star Citizen Arena Commander module takes off on May 29th for backers

Star Citizen Arena Commander

All space cowboys, otherwise known as Star Citizen’s army of backers, will get access to the game within a game, Arena Commander, come May 29th, Cloud Imperium announced today. That’s a week this Thursday.

Two modes will be made available to all backers: Free Flight and Vanduul Swarm. Some lucky testers will also receive access to the online modes, with more being brought in further down the line.

In the release version of Star Citizen, players will be able to dip into the Arena Commander VR sim to go on training missions and get dogfighting experience without putting their valuable craft at risk.

Arena Commander was only display at PAX East last month, and Chris Roberts and Co posted a video showing it off. Included was some extra dogfighting shenanigans not shown at PAX.

Last month also saw the massive total for the crowd-funding venture reach an astronomical $42 million, with no signs of stopping.

Cheers, CVG.
