Star Citizen gets a lot of flak for selling virtual ships that don't exist (even as virtual things) yet, but it seems that this strategy, along with other sources of funding, has paid off big time for Cloud Imperium Games.
In a report by Gamasutra, it has been revealed that Star Citizen earned more in pledges than all the other videogame Kickstarters combined.
High profile videogame Kickstarters were in short supply in 2014, but the fact that a single project had a $12million lead on every other game on the platform is still an astounding feat.
That pace of funding doesn't look like it's slowing down any time soon either, with Star Citizen's pace of funding recently accelerating, powered by new backers.
