Scream hello to the shoutcasters of StarCraft II’s WCS Global Finals

StarCraft II does bans like it does everything else: in waves.

Few men or women are qualified to cast shouts into the faces of millions simultaneously – yet that’s precisely the poisoned chalice Blizzard have proffered six renowned mic-mumblers ahead of the World Championship Series Global Finals at BlizzCon this November. Here are their names.

The casters comes in pairs, as solo shouters have been known to forcibly eject their punished voice boxes mid-match, upsetting paying audience members and disrupting play.

Ben ‘MrBitter’ Nichols and Kevin ‘RotterdaM’ van der Kooi are veterans of the North American Star League as ‘BitterdaM’, and have been chosen to update English-speaking viewers as to goings-on during the event.

They’ll join longstanding GomTV shoutcasters Nick ‘Tasteless’ Plott and Dan ‘Artosis’ Stemkoski, who’re returning for their third BlizzCon to date. GomTV is South Korea’s foremost StarCraft broadcaster in a country that does these things properly, and hosts its own global league in GSL.

Finally, the Electronic Sports League’s Shaun ‘Apollo’ Clark will represent the UK, shouting alongside Sean ‘Day[9]’ Plott – apparently not too tied up with his new role as design lead on an indie RTS to attend.

BlizzCon is happening on the weekend beginning Friday, November 8, and promises plenty of announcements across Blizzard’s roster of finely pruned PC games. Check our BlizzCon predictions post for more on those.
