The games industry settles into a fine rhythm around this time of the year, as GDC turns to PAX East which turns to E3. It’s inevitably easy to follow that flow and get caught looking forward, forgetful that March alone has seen The Division 2, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and Devil May Cry V come out. Luckily for you, though, we round up what’s doing the business every week on the Steam global top sellers chart and the Steam concurrent players chart, too.
We do it because we realise it can be quite tricky keeping on top of what’s going on with new releases, deals, and expansions. Besides, it’s a handy way to spot some juicy bargains. We need to spend our hard-earned pennies on something, after all.
The new releases and deals are nicely balanced this week. Borderlands: The Handsome Collection has a whopping discount, meaning you’ll save more than a few pretty pennies. On top of that, Sekrio Shadows Die Twice has come out – meaning you can perish plenty of times. Anyway, here’s what’s doing the business on Steam this week.
STEAM TOP SELLERS
Here are the Steam top sellers, week ending March 29:
- Risk of Rain 2
- Sekrio: Shadow’s Die Twice
- Survivor Pass 3: Wild Card
- Borderlands: The Handsome Collection
- Tropico 6
- Outward
- PUBG
- Unheard
- Grim Dawn – Forgotten Gods Expansion
- GTA V
We haven’t had a Risk of Rain game since 2013, but it didn’t stop Risk of Rain 2 storming to the top of the charts following its surprise launch into early access March 29th. Notably less surprising, is the fact that FromSoftware’s Sekiro: Shadow’s Die Twice is also doing well. According to Rich, “It’s a journey like little else in gaming, and if you’re up for the challenge, you absolutely have to play it.” Following on in third is PUBG’s latest battle pass, Survivor Pass 3: Wild Card. Breaking up the new releases is Borderlands: The Handsome Collection, which has a whopping 90% discount following the Borderlands 3 reveal.
Following on in fifth and sixth are more new releases with Tropico 6 and Outward. PUBG comes next, alongside Unheard, which is 26% off. Rounding off the Steam charts are Grim Dawn’s Forgotten Gods DLC and GTA V.
STEAM CHARTS BY CONCURRENT PLAYERS
Here are the most played games on Steam, week ending March 29:
- PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS
- Dota 2
- Counter-Strike: Global Offensive
- Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege
- Grand Theft Auto V
- Warframe
- Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
- Team Fortress 2
- Football Manager 2019
- Rust
We’re welcoming a new face to the concurrents chart this week in the form of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, which comes in at seventh. A good thing, too, as apart from that it’s very much the old guard in place. Although, PUBG has swapped places with Dota 2 again as the two behemoths duke it out.
