Steam has 50 million users, up to 5 million playing concurrently

That news comes to you courtesy of the London Games Conference 2012, where Sega’s John Clark has been speaking about the importance of community in PC gaming.

We’ve also learnt that there are some 500,000 subscribers to the Big Picture beta, while the Steam Workshop has over 300,000 items and about 106m community contributions. PC gaming is all about big numbers.
