Get flipped off by a snarky goblin in latest Styx: Shards of Darkness trailer

Styx: Shards of Darkness

Have you met Styx, the sneaky, snarky goblin now starring his second game? If not, his recently-released stealth adventure has just got a new trailer, and it’s the perfect chance to meet the odious little creep. There’s a special surprise at the end for Terminator 2 fans.

If you prefer “all this sneaking around” to “a straight fight”, check out the best stealth games on PC.

First appearing in the 2012 ARPG Of Orcs and Men, Styx was popular enough to get his own spin-off, Master of Shadows, in 2014. Now he’s back in Shards of Darkness.

The trailer does a great job of showcasing Styx’s personality (though that’s a debatably worthy goal given that he’s a bit of a jerk) and the kind of thing he can get up to in his new adventure. Mainly, that’s stealing, wise-cracking, and pushing people out of windows.

Shards of Darkness marks Styx’s debut on the Unreal 4 engine, and our own Jeremy Peel has taken a look at how that’s enabled developers Cyanide to step up their ideas. It’s well worth a read for anyone interested in engine technology, especially as it pertains to stealth games.

If you’re interested, there are more trailers and screens over on the Styx: Shards of Darkness Steam page, where it’s rated 89% positive. You can pick it up now for £34.99 ($39.99 US).
