How grudges work in Tales of the Shire

How Tales of the Shire disgruntled townsfolk work

If you don't have a hobbit over for a meal regularly enough, they'll start to get a little grumpy with you, but they won't tell you to your face, of course. I received a letter through the post from Orlo suggesting I invite Sandyman for a meal, as he'd mentioned I hadn't cooked for him recently.

It was nice to have the heads up, but just after I'd received the letter, I was promptly told that same day that Sandyman has a grudge against me.

How to fix grudges in Tales of the Shire

I'm not sure if this was a bug with the game, or whether you have to act very quickly on receiving these letters, but the grudge happened on the same day I received the letter. If this happens to you, the best thing to do is to send out a letter straight away to the unhappy hobbit inviting them for a meal.

If a hobbit becomes disgruntled, they won't accept invites to shared meals, and it's not only forgetting about them for a few days that does it. Hobbits also become grumpy if you don't attend the shared meal that you'd planned. They do seem to get over it quite quickly, though. I was able to interact with Sandyman and still buy items from his shop and complete tales quests.
