Team Fortress 2 Tomb Raider item contest (inevitably) puts the Heavy in short shorts

Last month, Valve announced their Team Fortress 2 Tomb Raider contest for Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris – the first occasion on which tie-in items had been thrown open to the Workshop community to design.

At the time, Valve told potential creators that the only thing they didn’t want to see was the Heavy in short shorts. Many, many short short designs later, they’ve picked the best – alongside two other winners and three runners-up.

“You might remember we specifically told you not to make Heavy short shorts,” wrote the TF2 dev team. “However, once we actually glimpsed the majesty of Heavy short shorts, we saw the error of our ways.”

So it is that of over a hundred submissions, Multitrip and Void’s Jungle Booty has claimed one of the three top prizes.

“When Bob Gaudio asked ‘Who wears Short Shorts?’ I doubt this is the answer he was looking for,” say the modeller and texturer of their creation.

They’ve won pretty much every Square Enix game on Steam, as have the community creators behind two fetching accessories – Crown of the Old Kingdom and the Tomb Readers.

All of their items will be shipped to the Mann Co. Store in the near future, alongside the three runners-up: the Bootenkhamuns, Orion’s Belt and the Pocket Raiders.

Excellent, punconscious work by all. Would you be happy if Valve outsourced all their promotional items in future?
