Teamfight Tactics patch 9.14 notes change…basically everything

The game's first major update tweaks almost every champion and alliance in the game

Teamfight Tactics got its first major set of balance changes earlier this week. Riot’s League of Legends autobattler seems to be off to a flying start, but that doesn’t mean that it’s not still in need of a whole host of tweaks.

Patch 9.14 comes with a handful of headline changes. The most notable is the arrival of Teamfight Tactics’ ranked mode – you’ll now earn LP for finishing in the top four spots, but lose it if you finish in the bottom half of the ladder. Thankfully, however, you won’t have to worry about promotion matches in order to rank up. There’s also a new champion in the form of Twisted Fate, who brings his iconic card-slinging to the game, and tweaks to attack speed and PvE rounds.

In terms of broader balance, there’s a lot to take in. Almost all champions have been tweaked in the patch, and there are also changes to nearly every alliance. As well as several QoL and bug fixes, the changes should help several underused champions ramp up a little – but I’m still not going to be buying Fiora any time soon.

The Teamfight Tactics ranked beta season starts in patch 9.14. Premade ranked parties will be limited to three players, and you’ll earn LP if you finish a game in the top four. Finish in the bottom half of the ladder, however, and you’ll lose LP instead.

Twisted Fate

The card master is the first new champion to make his way to Teamfight Tactics. Thanks to his Cutpurse skin, he’ll be combining his spell-slinging Sorceror skills with the Pirate bonus.
He’ll cost 2 gold, and his ability will be Pick a Card – “Twisted Fate throws a card that randomly stuns (Gold), deals damage around his target (Red) or restores mana to himself and nearby allies (Blue).

Attack speed changes

 All champions’ attack speed ratios have been adjusted. Bonuses will now be calculated based on a percentage of the champion’s base attack speed.

PvE Rounds

 You’ll now get gold if you don’t get an item during a PvE round, and Dragon and Elder Dragon now longer benefit from the Dragon Trait bonuses.

Traits

Assassin – nerfed

Effect:
Critical strike damage decreased to 125/250% from 150/250%.

Demon – changed

Effect:
Mana burn chance changed to 25/50/85% from 40/60/80%.

Elementalist – nerfed

Effect:
Golem health decreased to 2200 from 3000.
Golem attack damage decreased to 100 from 200.

Guardian – buffed

Effect:
Armor buff now stacks any number of times.

Gunslinger – nerfed

Effect:
Extra units hit decreased to 1/2 from 1/all.

Pirate – nerfed

Effect:
Average gold per chest decreased to 1.6 from 2.

Shapshifter – nerfed

Effect:
Transform health gain decreased to 60% from 100%.

Sorcerer – buffed

Effect:
Bonus AP increased to 45/100 from 35/100.

Wild – buffed

Effect:
Attack speed per stack increased to 10% from 7%.

Champion Changes

Aatrox – buffed

Ability:
Mana cost decreased to 75 from 100.
Damage increased to 400-1000 from 350-850.

Ahri – changed

Ability:
No targets current attack target, not random enemy.
Now re-targets if the target dies during the cast time.
Damage increased to 100/200/300.

Akali – buffed

Stats:
Health decreased to 650 from 700.
Attack speed decreased to 0.7 from 0.75.
Ability:
No longer starts to cast when no enemies would be in range.

Anivia – buffed

Ability:
No longer cancels when Anivia dies.

Blitzcrank – changed

Ability:
Nearby allies are now more likely to target the unit Blitzcrank pulls.

Brand – nerfed

Ability:
Mana cost increased to 125 from 100.

Braum – buffed

Ability:
Damage reduction increased to 70-90% from 60-90%,
Mana cost decreased to 50 from 75.
Now targets furthest enemy, not nearest enemy.

Cho’gath – nerfed

Stats:
Health decreased to 1000 from 1100.
Ability:
Knockup duration decreased to 1.5/2/2.5 seconds from 2/2.25/2.5 seconds.

Darius – buffed

Ability:
No longer starts casts at times when no enemies would be in range.

Draven – nerfed

Stats:
Attack speed increased to 0.75 from 0.85.

Elise – changed

Cost:
Decreased to 1 gold from 2.
Ability:
Spiderlings now benefit from the Demon Origin effect.
Mana cost increased to 100 from 75.
Number of spiderlings decreased to 1/2/4 from 2/3/4.
Stats:
Health decreased to 450 from 500.
Armor decreased to 20 from 25.

Evelynn – changed

Stats:
Attack damage increased to 60 from 50.
Ability:
Execute threshold increased to 65% HP from 50% HP.
Damage multiplier increased to 300/500/700% from 300/400/500%.
Now roots targets during cast time.

Fiora – buffed

Stats:
Attack speed increased to 1.0 from 0.7.
Damage increased to 100-400 from 100-250.

Gangplank – buffed

Ability:
Now applies on-hit effects.
Stats:
Attack speed increased to 0.65 from 0.6.
Health increased to 700 from 650.

Gnar – nerfed

Stats:
Health decreased to 750 from 850.
Armor decreased to 30 from 35.

Graves – nerfed

Stats:
Health decreased to 450 from 500.

Kennen – buffed

Ability:
Damage increased to 400-900 from 300-660.
Stats:
AD increased to 65 from 60.

Leona – buffed

Ability:
Mana cost decreased to 100 from 150.

Lucian – buffed

Ability:
Second shot damage increased to 150/250/350 from 65/150/235.

Miss Fortune – changed

Ability:
Now targets current attack target, not random enemy.
Ability now re-targets if target dies during wind-up.
Mana cost increased to 100 from 75.

Mordekaiser – buffed

Stats:
Health increased to 550 from 500.

Morgana – buffed

Ability:
No longer starts cast at times when no enemies would be in range.
Damage increased to 300-450 from 250-450.

Poppy – buffed

Stats:
Armor increased to 40 from 30.
Ability:
Stun duration increased to 2/3/4 seconds from 1.5/2.5/3.5 seconds.
Number of targets hit increased to 1/2/3 from 1.
Damage increased to 300/500/700 from 300/400/500.

Pyke – changed

Ability:
Mana cost increased to 125 from 100.
Stats:
Starting mana increased to 75 from 50.

Rengar – buffed

Stats:
AD increased to 65 from 55.
Ability:
Attack speed buff now increases attack speed ratio.

Sejuani – nerfed

Ability:
Stun duration decreased to 2/3.5/5 seconds from 3/4/5 seconds.

Shen – buffed

Stats:
Starting mana increased to 100 from 50.

Shyvana – buffed

Stats:
Attack speed increased to 0.7 from 0.65.
Health increased to 650 from 550.

Tristana – nerfed

Stats:

Warwick – buffed

Ability:
Now applies on-hit effects.

Yasuo – buffed

Ability:
Now applies on-hit effects.
Knockup duration increased to 1.5 seconds from 1.25 seconds.
Damage increased to 150/350/550 from 150/250/350.

Item Changes

  • All items will no longer benefit from ability power.
  • Every NPC round now drops an award, whether that be item components or gold.

Cursed Blade – changed

Effect:
Can now reduce targets to 0 stars.
Trigger chance increased to 20% from 25%.

Guardian Angel – buffed

Effect:
Revive delay decreased to 2 seconds from 4 seconds.
Health restored increased to 1000 from 500.

Guinsoo’s Rageblade – buffed

Effect:
Attack speed per stack increased to 4% from 3%.

Infinity Edge – buffed

Stats:
Critical strike damage increased to 150% from 100%.

Ionic Spark – changed

Effect:
Now deals true damage instead of magic damage.

Locket of the Iron Solari – changed

Effect:
Now shields the wearer and the champions two spaces to the left and right of the wearer at the start of the round.

Luden’s Echo – buffed

Stats:
Primary target damage increased to 200 from 100.
AoE damage increased to 0 + 100% AP to 200.

Morellonomicon – buffed

Effect:
Max HP damage per second increased to 5% from 2.5%.

Recurve Bow – buffed

Stats:
Attack speed increased to 20% from 15%.

Redemption – changed

Effect:
Now triggers at 25% health.
No longer damages enemies.

Runaan’s Hurricane – nerfed

Effect:
Extra bolts decreased to 1 from 2.
Bolts damage decreased to 25% from 50%.
Now applies on-hit effects.

Stattik Shiv – changed

Effect:
Now always hits 3 additional targets, rather than all champions in a frontal cone.

Thornmail – changed

Effect:
Reflect damage changed to 100% of physical damage mitigated from 35% of physical damage taken.
Damage type changed to true damage from magic damage.

Warmog’s Armor – changed

Effect:
Regen changed to 6% missing HP from 3% max HP.

Zeke’s Herald – changed

Effect:
Now only grants attack speed to champions two spaces to the left and right of the wearer.
Attack speed aura increased to 15% from 10%.
