The Bard’s Tale IV goes behind the scenes with the art team

The Bard's Tale IV Kickstarter funded

The Bard’s Tale IV may be financed and absolutely in development, but the Kickstarter campaign still has a few days left. To further raise awareness, developer inXile has released a video showing off some of the art work from the game, and the team’s trip to Scotland to research lore-friendly materials and architecture.

Aside from some wonderful photos of highland cattle, the video shows off some quite incredible tech in the form of photogrammetry. Numerous photos of a gravestone, taken at every angle, is imported into a 3D graphics program, which converts the images into a series of dots. This is then converted into a model and imported straight into Unreal Engine 4. You can see the gravestone, rendered a perfect copy of the original, standing in one of The Bard’s Tale IV’s areas.

As it’s the final push for the Kickstarter, inXile have also put together this humorous trailer to tell you exactly what you can get by throwing a handful of dollars their way. You’ve got until July 10th to back.
