It might not be obvious how to open the mysterious and ostentatious metal gate in The Casting of Frank Stone, so here's the solution.

Madi, one of the player characters, looks upon a gilded gate in The Casting of Frank Stone.

What is the gate puzzle solution in The Casting of Frank Stone? In The Casting of Frank Stone, one of your timelines sees you exploring a large, opulent manor, owned by a collector of all things horror. Perhaps the best room in the house is the reliquary, filled with artifacts and props, but it’s not easy to get in.

The Casting of Frank Stone is an interactive movie of sorts, as we explore in our The Casting of Frank Stone review, following in the footsteps of previous Supermassive games. That doesn’t mean you don’t get to do anything, though, as there are puzzles and skill checks throughout the story game. If you’re stuck opening the reliquary gate in the manor, here’s the solution and how to figure it out.

The Casting of Frank Stone gate puzzle solution

You can brute force this one, but it might take a while. Instead, there is a simple solution to the gate puzzle in The Casting of Frank Stone, but it’s not immediately obvious.

There are three paintings on the wall to the right of the locked gate. If you look closely, there is an icon in the bottom right-hand corner of each, each relating to one of the gate dials. Turn the dials to the house, the tree, and the hammer to match these symbols and unlock the gate. These things also all appear in the diorama upstairs, which is another clue to unlocking to gate if you miss the paintings.

Interestingly, this puzzle might be far easier for those who aren’t regular Dead by Daylight players, since some of the other available icons are perks or from the asymmetrical horror game, while others are also DBD easter eggs. In fact, the diorama itself is a reference to Dead by Daylight, featuring one of the game’s killer, The Hillbilly, and the middle painting is of Carmina Mora, The Artist.

Now you can unlock the The Casting of Frank Stone reliquary gate and continue through your story. As you explore the single-player game, keep your eye out for trinkets and The Casting of Frank Stone Relliks, which are also references to Dead by Daylight for those in the know – and cute collectibles for those that aren’t.
