The Division’s post-launch plans include three expansions and “several” free updates

The Division PC streets

Ahead of The Division’s PC beta launch tomorrow, Ubisoft have revealed their long-term post-launch plans for the online open world RPG. The game itself is “designed to provide a max-level experience”, apparently, which will take the form of three paid expansions and several free game-mode-adding updates.

The Division is in good company on our list of upcoming PC games to look out for in the coming months.

First, let’s look at the paid content. Set beneath the sprawling concrete jungle that is New York City, The Division’s first major expansion is named Underground, where you and up to three mates will engage in “intense co-op action” in a brand new, never before seen area.

Expansion number two is called Survival which turns the entire map into a Dark Zone. There’s not much else on this as yet, besides the suggestion of it being a damn challenging multiplayer mode. Third, is the Last Stand and all we’ve got to go on here is the name. Ominous.

On the freebies front, new modes will be added along the way which will comprise “challenging group-oriented operations to test players’ abilities in co-op mode and win unique rewards.” Unique rewards most likely means guns and gear.

Those who grab the season pass at launch will be treated to a sawn-off shotgun, a short-ranged sidearm, exclusive outfits and weapon skins. “Exclusive content drops and special events” await season passers on a monthly basis too, so say Ubi.

All going to plan, The Division will release on March 8, 2016.
