The Elder Scrolls Online Necrom release date was announced on as part of the Xbox Bethesda showcase, when the new expansion, and its class, were revealed in full.
The Elder Scrolls Online has been going for years now, with its regular content updates keeping it fresh for old and new players alike, and cementing it as one of the best PC games in recent years. One thing that ESO players have been desperate for, though, is a new playable class, with just two having been added since the game’s initial release. Those prayers have been answered, with a third new playable class coming with the Necrom release date: The Arcanist. We’ve got all the details on that, and everything else Necrom, down below.
Elder Scrolls Online Necrom release date
The Elder Scrolls Online Necrom release date is June 5, 2023 on PC and Mac, and will follow a few weeks later on consoles, bringing new trials, classes, and worlds to the MMORPG.
ESO Necrom trailer
The cinematic trailer above was revealed as part of the Elder Scrolls Online global reveal that followed the January 27 Xbox and Bethesda showcase. Rather than focusing solely on Necrom, the cinematic reveals that Necrom is part of the wider Shadow Over Morrowind saga. The end of the trailer reveals the return of the legendary daedric prince Hermaeus Mora, who will be part of the saga, alongside the new Arcanist class.
Mora, the daedric prince of knowledge, will be part of the story more in Necrom than ever before, as you endeavour to uncover the secrets of greater powers in the single-player MMO. According to the full global reveal of Necrom, “there are hidden powers that threaten Mora’s realm of Apocrypha, and the ultimate goal of uncovering one of these secrets… could unravel all of reality,” putting not just Tamriel, but the whole of Nirn, at risk. It is the player’s job therefore to try and stop this threat, all the while being tested by Hermaeus Mora.
ESO Arcanist class
The Arcanist plays a huge part in the cinematic trailer, and is a huge part of the expansion no less, and players have been clamouring for a new playable for class for some time.
The Arcanist arrives with this new storyline as their power comes from knowledge, and from Apocrypha, so of course the arcanist goes hand-in-hand with Hermaeus Mora. With this new class, you can wield runic magic to damage, heal, and even move, including summoning deadly tentacles from the Abyss, and magical runic portals. There are three skill lines when playing the arcanist: Herald of the Tome, Apocryphal Soldier, and Curative Runeforms. Which of these you choose to play depends on your playstyle, as they are offensive, defensive, and supportive, respectively.
Whether you are looking to play as The Arcanist or not, the new class brings knew secrets, and knowledge, to The Elder Scrolls Online, which you will be able to unravel over time as you build a relationship with Mora.
Where does Necrom take place?
For the first time in ESO, players will be exploring the Telvanni Peninsula on the eastern edge of Morrowind, where the city of Necrom is nestled. While it all feels familiar to veterans of the series, it’s also new, and breathes new life into a city not seen in an Elder Scrolls game since Arena. The gorgeous world is the epitome of fantasy gameplay, filled with natural beauty, including giant mushrooms and jagged terrain.
ESO Necrom trials
A brand-new trial arrives with the Elder Scrolls Online Necrom release date: Sanity’s Edge. Band together with the rest of your party as up to 12 players take on new boss mechanics to earn exclusive, trial-specific rewards. The trial takes place inside the mind of a troubled recruit of the Mages’ Guild, and their life is in your hands.
Now you are equipped with all the details of the Elder Scrolls Online: Necrom release date, and can start preparing yourself for the new story – and new class.
