New The Sims 4 expansion lets you play hide-and-seek with your imaginary friend

Among vacation getaways and idyllic retreats, The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits offers more ways for Sims to have fun and make mischief.

It hasn't been that long since the last The Sims 4 expansion, but another one is on the way and it brings back a classic mechanic from The Sims 3: imaginary friends. In The Sims 4: Adventure Awaits, you'll be able to take your Sims on vacations, ranging from nostalgia-inducing summer camps to relaxing spas. Adventure Awaits may offer more ways for your Sims to kick back and have fun than ever before, but that doesn't mean they can't get up to trouble.

Take the imaginary friends. You can choose from four distinct dolls and four different personalities: Goofball, Creative, Competitive, and Evil. Fuel your child's latent artistry or their inner pyromaniac with these new companions. If you get up to too much trouble, you can always look up some Sims 4 cheats to ease the pain. The expansion also revamps how childhood works more generally. Each sim will go through "formative moments" in childhood which will structure their adult lives. New child-specific traits and "Childhood Sentiments" give you more ways to customize your Sims. Kids can play more games, like hide-and-seek, and you can fully customize modular playgrounds for them to enjoy.

The really big draw of The Sims 4: Adventure Awaits is the "getaway" system. The pack comes with three pre-built getaways: the campfire vibe of Camp Gibbi Gibbi, the spa resort Jellyfish Junction, or the mountain cabin Love Highland. Each of these getaways is associated with one of the expansion's three new neighborhoods. However, you can also build your own getaways, filling them with activities to do and places to explore. You can even create your own Sim-fueled reality shows by applying rules to your getaway. Fitting with the expansion's theme, there are hosts of new activities (like water-sliding and kayaking) and new skills (like Papercraft and Archery).
