The Witness system requirements aren’t the Blow they might have been

The Witness

There’s a January happening soon. Sorry to bring it up, but there it is. By way of commiseration, however, there’s also a new Jon Blow game – his first since 2008 – in the form of The Witness. The first-person puzzler may be slow-moving, but its backdrop is a lush, Myst-like landscape. It’s beautiful. So will it run on your machine?

Blow’s last game, Braid, made our list of the best PC indie games.

Here are the basic requirements:

  • OS: Windows 7
  • Processor: 1.8GHz
  • Memory: 4 GB RAM
  • Graphics: Intel HD 4000 series
  • DirectX: Version 9.0
  • Storage: 4 GB available space

And the recommended specs:

  • OS: Windows 7
  • Processor: 2.4GHz
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Graphics: GeForce 780
  • DirectX: Version 10
  • Storage: 4 GB available space

Four gig isn’t very much at all – perhaps we’ve the sparsely-sketched textures of that art style to thank. The graphical requirements aren’t too painful either, particularly when you consider that The Witness looks like this. Cue slow-panning environment shot:

The Witness is out on January 26th. Think you’ll manage to solve some of Blow’s 600+ puzzles?
