If you’re excited for Total War: Warhammer II and love you some grimdark fantasy lore, we have good news: you can login to your Total War Access account now and get a free ebook that sets up the story of the forthcoming fantasy sequel. If you don’t have an Access account, you can create one – also for free.

Here’s everything we know about Total War: Warhammer 2.

The ebook is titled The Forked Tongue and is written by Andy Hall – lead writer on Total War: Warhammer and a 16-year Games Workshop veteran (he worked on Blood Bowl, Warmaster, and Inquisitor, if you’re familiar with GW’s specialist games). Excitingly, Hall himself hints that it contains “hints and easter eggs aplenty,” and that it’ll be the first in a series of short stories:

The ebook tells the story of lowly skink Yukannadoozat (you cannot do that?), who brings troubling knowledge to the Lizardmen’s Astromancers in the Temple of the Eclipse. It’s just ten pages, but gives an insight into the events that lead up to Warhammer II’s campaign – which is set to be the most narratively rich in the Total War franchise to date.

Here’s the Total War Access page, if you’re keen to sign up. Simply log in to your account and the ebook should be there, free for the reading.
