Creative Assembly announce Steam Workshop support and developer-created modding tools for Total War: Shogun 2

All’s been quiet on the Shogun 2 front for some time now, as Creative Assembly ramp up excitement for the pleasingly expensive, all-angles gorgeous Rome 2. But now we learn they’re to follow up the Shogun 2 Battle Map Editor released four months ago with full Steam Workshop integration and internally-developed modding tools.

Steam Workshop integration brings with it the ability to create and upload historical battles, and to download them with a click.

This brave new world of Total War modding will be enabled by tools – accidentally revealed early at Creative Assembly’s modding summit – created internally by the developer. Included will be the means to edit campaigns and models, two areas previously inaccessible to even the most dedicated Total War modders.

No word yet on when both will arrive. In the meantime, take a look at our list of the best mods for Shogun 2.
