Trove is a voxel-based free-to-play from Trion Worlds

Trove

Trion Worlds has announced that it’s developing a new free-to-play online RPG built on a randomised voxel-based engine. Full of quests, chests, and enemies to hit with blocky swords, Trove will be developed with a heavy amount of community feedback.

Trove’s art style and construction/destruction focus is very heavily Minecraft influenced, but that’s not the only element of Mojang’s indie goliath that Trion is drawing from. Much like Minecraft, it looks like Trove will go through a lengthy period of development that players will be involved with. You can sign up for alpha testing right now, which presumably will lead on to an extended beta, much like Minecraft. “We’re launching Trove in alpha so we can develop openly and collaboratively with you earlier than ever before,” say Trion.

Trove may be most obviously Minecraft influenced, but still seems to possess a look and charm of it’s own, thanks to more detail in the character models and some exceptionally glossy-looking blocks. This might be one to keep an eye on.

Thanks, VG247.
