Twitch Studio is an OBS alternative aimed at new streamers

Twitch wants to make streaming less intimidating

OBS is the de facto standard for streamers to set up their broadcast, but it’s hardly the only option. Now even Twitch is launching its own streaming app, aimed primarily at giving new streamers a quicker, easier way to get set up. Twitch Studio is now available in beta, and invites will slowly be rolling out to users over time.

Twitch Studios offers quick ways to set up stream templates, manage activity alerts and chat, and guide you toward optimal settings for all your equipment. The initial beta has a more limited feature set, but sign-ups for early access are available on the official site.

“If you’re thinking about becoming a streamer or attempted to and stopped because it was too difficult,” the FAQ says, “Twitch Studio is for you!” Twitch goes a bit further in saying that this app isn’t really for people with experience: “If you are an existing streamer, you are likely satisfied with your current stream and equipment setup so there’s no need to switch.”

Twitch also says there’ll be no pressure for anyone to switch to the Studio app, as “we want streamers to use the apps that work best for them.”

Still, it’s a smart way for Twitch to make the path to streaming a bit easier for anyone who might be curious (perhaps you can eventually join the top female streamers in the big leagues). We’ll see how the community responds to Twitch Studio as the app starts expanding in the weeks and months ahead.
