Two new forums hint at Paradox going to space and Antiquity

Two new Paradox games teased

Paradox Interactive has added two new forums to the “upcoming games” section of the official forums, codenamed Project Nero and Project Armstrong, along with two pieces of concept art. Now is the time for speculation, though we won’t have to wait long to find out exactly what these projects are. Paradox will be spilling the beans on January 23rd, which is conveniently in the middle of this year’s Paradox Convention.

I suspect that Project Nero might be a new Europa Universalis: Rome, while Project Armstrong could certainly be related to a new Hearts of Iron game focusing on the space age, perhaps.

It’s Project Nero that has me most excited, I confess. Europa Universalis: Rome was a precursor to Crusader Kings II – my favourite Paradox Development Studio title – where the studio experimented with the political intrigue and dynastic relationships that would make CKII such a strong title. After being burned by The Creative Assembly’s Rome II, I’m desperately in need of some ancient grand strategy.

Although Project Armstrong suggests a space theme, it might be something else entirely. Paradox are already working on a Hearts of Iron spin off in the form of East vs. West, developed by BL-Logic, but it’s been a long time since we’ve seen anything new from the team.

We’ll be covering the Paradox Convention later this month, so keep an eye out for the big reveal.
