Platinum Games' hyper-fast anti-cover shooter, Vanquish, could be coming to PC

If you ever owned a PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 you might be familiar with Vanquish, a lightning-quick cover shooter where cover is nothing more than a brief respite while you charge up, ready to zip back into the fray with a rocket-powered knee-slide.

There's not a single shooter that's anything like Vanquish, but here's our list of PC's best FPS games anyway.

Kotaku recently had an interview with Platinum Games co-founder Atsushi Inaba, and during the chat he was asked about the possibility of a Vanquish PC port.

"It would be a good idea to release Vanquish on PC," said the Kotaku interviewer.

"Hrm," replied Inaba, smiling. "I wonder... If you stop recording, I can talk about that."

Well, well. well. It's kind of ironic, given the pace of that game, that it would take this long to see Vanquish on PC, but this news is extremely welcome.

If you're not familiar with Vanquish, there's a video below showing you why you should be excited.

Vanquish is such a good game. I'm surprised it hasn't already been ported to PC.

Would love to see a PC release. Perhaps a petition with a few thousand names could provide some inspiration, if it hasn't been done already.

That would be a thing. One can never have enough Platinum Games. I'm a huge fan and always have been, their games are generally quite clever, even rewarding cleverness too, which is a rare trait in modern video games. And funny, to boot. Bladewolf's 'boo' moment was one of the more memorable things to have happened in a video game of its ilk in quite some time. Ah, action games that remember they can also be funny. And funny outside of chauvinism and sexist jokes, too. Though admittedly Bulletstorm was also really good about that, even though it initially looked like it wouldn't be.

Anyway, yes! Good humour and cleverness from a Japanese developer I like, but more of, thanks to ports of their older library. I am indeed down for this.
