It is hard to believe it's already been a year since Warhammer 40k Space Marine 2 came out. The third-person shooter launched to fan acclaim and has gotten a steady run of updates ever since. To celebrate its first anniversary, Space Marine 2 is getting a host of new features as part of Patch 10, including a fierce PvP mode, a strategic PvE mode, a new operation, and even more weapons. The best part? It's totally free.

Let's get into the details of what Patch 10 offers. Perhaps the biggest addition is the PvP mode Helbrute Onslaught, where two teams of players battle over control of the titular mech. Whichever team takes the first objective gains control of the mech, but if the opposing team takes the Helbrute down and wins the next objective, they'll be able to pilot the machine. Developer Saber Interactive has been teasing this mode for Warhammer 40k Space Marine 2 for a long time; it was delayed from a prior patch.

The PvE mode is called Stratagems. These are challenges which set up restrictions and conditions for each match, like increased damage at a specific range or a lack of ammo boxes around the map. Completing Stratagems will earn you a new currency called Accolades. The mode seems to be a great addition to what was already one of the best co-op games. Elsewhere, in the new PvE operation Vortex, you'll face off against one of the patch's new enemies: the "warp-twisted" Mutalith Vortex Beast. You can also find Chaos Spawn, large and swift enemies with powerful melee abilities, in every operation.

Never fear, as you'll have new weapons with which to best these foes. In both PvP and PvE, you can equip the Power Axe and chain waves of damage. In PvE, the tactical and heavy classes can now harness the power of fire with the Pyreblaster and Pyrecannon weapons.

The updates won't end here though. Saber Interactive has already published the Space Marine 2 Year 2 roadmap, which promises new PvE missions, new weapons, enemies, and classes until at least Q2 2026.
