Having already conquered television, comics, and books, writer Neil Gaiman has set his sights and levelled his pen at games. Teaming up with the makers of point’n’click game The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom, The Odd Gentlemen, Gaiman aims to tell the story of a ghost looking for peace in his old Victorian home over the course of a 200 year struggle with encroaching mortals.

Wayward Manor is an episodic adventure game, with each episode taking to further from the series’ 1920s start date and closer to modern times. With each episode you’ll learn something more about the folk moving into your home and about your own afterlife, and particularly its painful beginnings (namely, your death).

Gaiman isn’t giving away much about the story but he told Mashable that “Normally in a game, if you’re in a haunted house, you are going to be walking through it intrepidly with your flashlight, your bell-book and candle, and your copy of the Necronomicon and you keep going until you find the ghost. In this one all you want to do is be left in peace with your lovely house and be left alone. I don’t want to give anything away but it’s safe to say you were killed in the 1880s and you were killed for a reason.”
