Wondering how to get gunpowder in Windrose? Once you've unlocked guns and taken down a few pesky enemies from a safe distance, you can get used to a pirate's life of not having to constantly block and parry. However, gunpowder is hard to come by and even harder to craft.
Not only do you need to find gunpowder, but you also need to craft bullets (though you can use pearls found along the beach). The only way to get gunpowder in Windrose early is by looting islands, uncovering points of interest, and finding chests. However, loot is randomized, so you won't always find gunpowder in a set location. Fortunately, we're here to help make this process a lot easier.
How to craft gunpowder
To craft gunpowder in Windrose, you need to combine sulfur and ash at the Millstone crafting spot. You find ash when creating charcoal, and at this point, you'll likely have hundreds sitting in a chest somewhere. Sulfur and the Millstone are the tricky parts to acquire.
To gain access to sulfur, you need an iron pickaxe, and to craft one of those, you need access to iron, obviously. These resources are both found in the Foothills biome. You need to defeat Thomas, the Coastal threat, before you can access Foothill discoveries.
Once Thomas has been felled, you can explore the Foothills, gather iron to craft an iron pickaxe, then use that new tool to gather sulfur. Once you have all of these resources, you can craft enough gunpowder to take any enemy down.
How to find gunpowder
If you haven't unlocked the Foothill, but still want to use some of those shiny guns you've found, you can actually find gunpowder in certain areas. Pirate camps are your best bet, and pirate enemies themselves have a chance of dropping gunpowder. Explore the surrounding islands and keep your eyes peeled for question marks.
