Blizzard, the horrible tease, has detailed fresh level 90 characters’ first steps into Draenor. “It all starts in a very dangerous place,” says the developer. That place is Tanaan Jungle, a primordial land with viscous flora. It’s from there where the Iron Horde are assaulting Azeroth, so you know it’s not going to be very peaceful.
“In primordial Tanaan, even the plants have teeth,” describes Blizzard. “Darkling fronds stab out at unlucky wanderers, or conceal canyons that plunge miles deep beneath the canopy – and these are far from the jungle’s worst dangers. Each day, warlords fell even wider stretches of Tanaan’s wilderness, striving to finally rend the gates of space and time for conquest unending.”
The heroes of Azeroth enter Draenor to take the battle to the orc warlords. It’s a counter-strike. And they’ll be facing the likes of Grommash Hellscream, Kilrogg Deadeye and Kargath Bladefist. Meeting historical figures and fighting them: that’s the life for me.
The goal is to shut down the Dark Portal, but doing that means getting stuck at the heart of the enemy. Good thing Thrall and even the untrustworthy Gul’dan can offer some aid.
Blizzard says that the zone will introduce players with characters that have been boosted to 90 to the mechanics of their class, but they’ll still be able to adventure with their chums.
It sounds like heroes will have to return to Tanaan at some point, too, hints Blizzard. “Your initial time in Tanaan Jungle will have an impact on your journey further into Draenor, and your first foray into its depths will be the jumpstart to your many adventures to come. While your time surviving the travails of this first adventure will be fast and a bit furious, never fear, this won’t be the last you’ll see of this terribly savage place.”
The Warlords of Draenor expansion is due out by the end of the year.
