A team at Blizzard has spent the last couple of years dicing the studio’s most famous names – chopping them up into squares and tossing them together in a delicious salad Hannibal Lecter would approve of. The result is Heroes of the Storm – a multi-series MOBA mashup of so many universes even DC Comics couldn’t find a fictional conceit to justify it all. Let’s hope Blizzard don’t try.

The portrait, described as “key art” and surely destined for bedroom walls, was tweetedyesterday evening. From top left to bottom right, it features Anub’arak, Illidan, Sylvanas, Witch Doctor, Chen Stormstout, Diablo himself, Nova, The Lich King, and Tychus Findlay.
A few of these creatures have entries in their respective series’ named after them – it’s hard to imagine them occupying the same space without the maps cracking open in existential protest. But that’s what they’ll do this weekend at BlizzCon 2013, where Heroes of the Swarm’s design team will play the game live.
Beyond that, we’ll be very surprised if the WoW dev team don’t announce their new expansion – Warlords of Draenor. Which game is more important to you?
